I have found the perfect location for the opening scene. It is going to be in a building, which is a council flat located in Brady Street. Due to the fact that it is a public place, we can use this location whenever we want. We are going to use the corridor that is on the 4th floor. The corridor is very long and narrow making it the perfect location for this scene and it also has a window at the end of the corridor.
Nishad

We have chosen the storyboard that we are going to use for the opening sequence. Now what we have realised is that the opening sequence is quite long and when we start editing, it will get even longer. To overcome this problem we are going to cut out superman from the opening scene.

Today we selected the storyboard that we are going to use for our opening scene, which had the most votes from our classmates. We also got our schedule filled in for filming. I and Nishad both discussed our free periods to see when we would be able to film and whether or not after school hours is needed.

NOTE* This is not our final storyboard, changes will be made.

The genre I am researching and also the genre I am going to use for the opening scene for my coursework is spoof comedy. The two films that I am going to compare are “Meet the Spartans” and “Epic Movie.”

Target Audience
The targeted audience for “Meet the Spartans” was teens that were over 13 years old because of the crude and sexual content throughout, language, and some comic violence. Although it references many movies, TV shows, people and pop cultural events, it focuses mainly on the movie 300. Which is why people who liked the film 300 might go and watch it, they may want to see how the directors of the film make a spoof of an excellent film. The budget of this film was $30,000,000

In the same way, Scary movie 3 is also rated to be seen by teens that were over 13 years old because of the crude and sexual humour, language and comic violence. The whole spoof comedy movie is based on the films Willy Wonker and chocolate factory and the chronicles of Narnia People who liked these two films as well as people who dislikes the films might go to watch it and see how the director makes a parody of the films, although everyone over the age of 13 are welcomed. The budget of this film was $20 million.

Audience Consumption
Meet the Spartans opened number 1 at the US box office, earning $18,505,530 over its opening weekend. The film dropped 60.4% in its second weekend earning only $7,336,595 but expanding to 2643 theaters while ranking fourth at the box office. The film earned $38,233,676 in the United States and Canada and $45,787,889 internationally, adding up to a worldwide total in foreign countries of $84,021,565.

Epic Movie debuted at number 1 at the box office with a gross of $18.6 million over the opening weekend. As of May 8, 2007 the film has received $86,865,564, with $39,739,367 of that amount earned nationally, despite negative reviews from critics. The film was an economic success for its producers not least because it had a comparatively low budget, estimated at $20 million (the same as Date Movie).

Audience Interpretation
The audience went to see these two films because they wanted to be entertained and also they wanted to see who the director turns problems seen in the films The ring and chronicles of Narnia into spoof comedy. When the people go to see spoof comedy films they expect to see situation being exaggerated and mockery of typical genre plot.

Audience Response
Meet the Spartans received almost common negative reviews from critics. “Rotten Tomatoes” ranked the film 25th in the 100 worst reviewed films of the 2000s, with a rating of 2%. “Metacritic” reported the film had an average score of 9 out of 100, based on 11 reviews — indicating "extreme dislike or disgust" and being the worst received film by the director on the site. On January 21, 2009, the film received five nominations for the 29th Golden Raspberry Awards: Worst Picture, Worst Supporting Actress (Electra), Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel.

Epic Movie was a financial success despite its extremely negative reviews. Rotten Tomatoes ranked the film 21st in the 100 worst reviewed films of the 2000s, with a rating of 2%. LaSalle of the San Francisco Chronicle thought "only a complete idiot could think Epic Movie is remotely funny or worth making at all. In the Los Angeles Times, Alex Chun called the film "nothing more than a disjointed series of scenes and references lined together as a backdrop for immature humor.

Due to the fact that we are students we have a really low budget to spend on the movie therefore special effects and use of high technology will be limited.

Our audience before we get others to see our opening would be our teachers and other media students to get their opinion on how we could improve the movie opening.
Our main target audience would be people in the Tower hamlets community, because it is such a diverse borough we need to cater the whole community meaning we need to get people from different classes and also get people with different ethnic backgrounds to represent Tower hamlets. Our audience would be other media students and family members to get their opinions on how we could improve our movie opening.

If we were to do screenings they would be private and done in a cheap location like going to genesis and ask them for a local screening, however if we were to turn this in to a professional movie and we were Hollywood producers we would be able to have our movie in cinemas nationwide and our target audience would be ages 12 and over and parental guardian.PG-12A.

This is Jim Carrey in Ace Ventura pet detective. Looking at his hair style we instantly know he is playing a comic role and when some people look at his facial expressions they start laughing because he looks very "dopey" and silly. The character we will have in our opening scene will have funky/silly looking hair.

This is an image taken from the film little man. The type of character we are looking for is a person that wants to be serious but because of the way they look everyone laughs at them. In the same way in this film people always take Little Man for a joke even when he is serious.

My role in the group was to originally to edit the video but because Aminur was not in I had to take his place and do the acting for the preliminary task. Everyone in my group worked really well in making the preliminary task.I think everyone in my group worked really well in doing the task and took it very seriously.

There were 5 members in the group but only 4 took part. Me,Zakiyya , Shahina and Mariam were only there when doing the actual filming of the task.I also helped edit the video. we tried to follow the storyboard but sometimes we forgot and got a bit carried away filming shots we thought looked good. in our group we had 1 problem which was that one of our team members Aminur which wasn't bothered to attend half the time. We haf to replace him in the acting position for myself because he wasn't in an the day we planned to film.

The finished article was okai but the opening shot was not very clear and miss told us to shoot it again. due to this problem we decided to film the wholetask again to make it look better. we saw this as a chance to improve our preliminary task and also gives us an idea of what problems we could try to avoid while doing the actual coursework.

In the preliminary task, the role I took, was acting and producing the scene. I was one of the main characters in this scene and when Nahim was editing I also helped him out.

One of the problem that we faced was that, two of our shots did not match. In one shot we had Shaidul's hand next to the door and also he had headphones in one ear then in the next shot it suddenly vanished. To overcome this error, we had to re-shoot it to correct it.

I personally think that our finished article looks high class. The editing looked almost professional and it had a real impact on the video, making it very enjoyed to watch.

In our main coursework we will regularly check what he have recorded to prevent re-shooting later

The genre that we have chosen for our opening scene is comedy/thriller. These two genres are almost the opposite of each other which is why it will be brilliant we put them together. We are going to make a spoof movie.

Spoof comedy film is a genre of film in which the main emphasis is on humour. Also, films in this style typically have a happy ending. Here are few characteristics of comedy
.Humour
.Stupidity
.Cheerful/Clumsy character
.Setting usually in cities
.small problems being exaggerated

Thriller on the other hand is more action packed with heroes battling villains in order to save the world from being destroyed. Thrillers normally have high stakes, non-stop action and plot twists that both surprise and excite. Here are few characteristics of thriller.
.villain and hero
.action packed
.Narrative Saving, helping people someone close to them
. Trouble, Danger
.Typical settings are in are the city in a busy area to create suspense of the question who is the villain?. It can also can be in a deserted area.

Spoof comedy is a new genre in itself. It takes over the whole genre of comedy and has become a genre of its own.
Top spoof comedy flims we like are:
-Epic movie-The superman scene when there's a bullet being shot a superman and the bulet goes in slowmotion and then superman ducks but then starts to scream because the bullet went in this eye.

-Scary Movie 3-Brenda is gettng the popcorn ready and goes in the living room alone then when she walks past the tv i automatically urn on then she switches it of then it comes on gain she call her friend but she thinks shes messing around. Then the girl from the ring comes out the screen and brenda gets scared she sits on the sofa eating popcorn which loks really funny but then they start kickboxing in the living room with the girl from the ring.

-Meet the Spartans-THey talking like grown ups trying to solve a problem then they start having a dance off. Also the costumes there wearing looks really fun because they do hip hop dancing and the clothes are very ancient looking.

-Disaster Movie- When the man is running in the field away from something. The camera shots are at a very wide angle. It looks very serious but then when the mans running he loks back nd then gets stepped on by a huge feet of an animal and is stuck to the bottom.

The genre of this film is thriller and comedy which is what we want our film opening to be. The film starts off with a drum beat and a bird’s eye view of buildings, this makes us, the audience feel as if the movie will be tragic and listening to the music we instantly can tell the genre is thriller and also that something big is being planned.

The suddenly we hear someone singing in a very high pitch voice leaving us wondering for a few seconds, who could it be. When we find out that this person is actually a traffic warden (Chris Tucker) dancing around while telling which way the cars should go. This is when we establish that the genre of this film is also comedy.

Next we see a policeman on a motorbike and a 4x4 car guarding a car while it moving making it obvious that someone that has a high status is in the car. Inside the car there are two characters, a FBI agent (Jackie Chan) and the ambassador of china. Here again us the audience feel that some is being planned because the ambassador says “stay close today Lee, we’re making history.” We still don’t know if something good or evil is being planned, which is why the tension builds and makes the audience feel the need to know what might happen and keep watching the movie.

In these few seconds of the opening the director has already shown the audience that the genre of the film is thriller/comedy. The atmosphere keeps on changing from being serious to comic and it blends in together. The director ends the opening scene at almost a cliff-hanger making the audience want to watch on and find out what happens next in the movie.

The main genre of this film is comedy. The film starts off with a very dramatic music being played while mountains are shown and then a red helicopter flying past making it obvious for the audience that they are looking for someone that is stuck on the mount. Watching the first few seconds the audience can decode that the genre of this film might be adventure.

Next we see an extremely long range shot of something climbing the mounting. The camera man slowly starts to zoom in and we the audience realise that it is a man climbing the mounting without any ropes. The director did this to show that this character is very adventurous and also to get us amazed and eager to find out why he is doing this.

After the camera zoom into a mid-shot of the character, (Jim Carrey) he turns around looks at the camera and the red helicopter and say “you know...you could put somebody’s EYE OUT with that thing.” Hearing this we instantly know this character will be playing a comic role and also another genre of this film is comedy.

Just like “Rush Hour 3,” in this film, the director starts off the movie with a very dramatic music making us feel as if the film will be humourless and tragic and then suddenly a character says or does something comical.
